It certainly feels like head coach Dusty May could have something special on his hands as he looks to build the Michigan Wolverines' men's basketball program.
In Year 1 with the Wolverines, he went 27-10, won the Big Ten tournament and took his team to the Sweet 16. That's one heck of a start, but May has also been solid in the talent acquisition portion of building a team as well.
His 2025 recruiting class ranked No. 11 nationally, and several intriguing players came over to Ann Arbor via the transfer portal. Now, May and Michigan are off to a hot start on the 2026 recruiting trail.
The news of the day for the Wolverines is that four-star power forward Quinn Costello from Boston has committed to Michigan.
Notably, Costello chose May and the Wolverines over an interest list that featured Michigan State, Texas, North Carolina, Purdue and Minnesota.

According to the 247Sports Composite rankings, Costello is the No. 7 power forward in the 2026 class and the No. 38 recruit overall.
The fact that May and his staff were able to land Costello over Michigan State is going to be a huge talking point. The Spartans were far from the only big-time contender trying to land the four-star, though.
North Carolina is a huge draw on the recruiting trail, and the same can be said for Texas and Purdue.
It's a big indication of where May has the Wolverines now that they are winning these kinds of recruiting battles.
Costello is a budding stretch-four with a very intriguing combination of positional size, skill, and vertical athleticism," 247Sports Director of Scouting Adam Finkelstein wrote. "He has soft natural touch, stretches the floor, and can make shots off the dribble with an increasingly compact release."
Costello shot 88% from the charity stripe and 43% on unguarded catch-and-shoot opportunities from three on the UAA basketball circuit. Checking in at 6-foot-10, 195 pounds, he can absolutely stand to bulk up a bit as he prepares for Big Ten basketball, but he's a player with incredible upside because of his ability to shoot as a power forward
He's Michigan's second 2026 commitment, joining 7-foot-3 international center Marcus Moller.
