Joe Gibbs will let Ty Gibbs, Denny Hamlin work out their differences after run-in

You won't see Joe Gibbs get in the middle of Denny Hamlin and Ty Gibbs if the two drivers attempt to have a conversation following their run-in in Sunday's NASCAR Cup Series playoff race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

Hamlin spun Ty Gibbs on Lap 110 of 301 after Ty Gibbs had previously made contact with Hamlin earlier in the race.

"It's always the drivers that have to handle that," Joe Gibbs told Fox Sports' Bob Pockrass on pit road after the race. "They're the ones that got the wheel. That's what we'll do. Those guys all are the ones driving the cars. Those guys will get together on their own and figure it out."

Hamlin offered his own perspective on the incident.

"I made a mistake into turn 1, so I would've made a mistake with anybody in that position," Hamlin told Pockrass. "I was trying to get by him (Ty Gibbs). That was the task in itself. I'll let leadership quarterback it however they'd like to."

Ty Gibbs — the grandson of Joe Gibbs — is in his third Cup Series season with the organization, while Hamlin is in his 20th Cup Series season and his 19th playoff run.
