Dak Prescott 'very comfortable' with how Cowboys will respond to CeeDee Lamb injury

The return of Green Bay Packers star pass rusher Micah Parsons to the Dallas Cowboys' AT&T Stadium this coming Sunday night has largely overshadowed the fact that the 1-2 Cowboys will be without No. 1 wide receiver CeeDee Lamb for at least two games due to the high ankle sprain he suffered in the Week 3 loss to the Chicago Bears.

While speaking with reporters on Thursday, Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott explained why he believes offseason acquisition George Pickens will step up amid Lamb's absences.

Dak Prescott discusses comfort level with George Pickens

"Yeah, it's where we need it to be at this point," Prescott said about his working relationship with Pickens, per Patrik Walker of the Cowboys' website. "Obviously, there's always gonna be growth. That's with any receiver. Anybody that I play with, we're never complacent, and we're always gonna push it. I'm very comfortable and very confident in what he's gonna do, where I expect him to be, and where he expects the ball. Those communications are continuously happening."

The Cowboys acquired Pickens from the Pittsburgh Steelers this past May after he left much to be desired with his on-the-field performances and behind-the-scenes actions while serving as that club's top target. Lamb quickly took Pickens under his wing, and Pickens has seemingly been a model citizen during his brief Dallas tenure.

"He's a great player," Prescott added about Pickens. "I told you all that from the time he showed up. These receivers, guys like George, CeeDee, they make it easy for that chemistry to grow. They go do their job and I just talk to them a little bit about what I expect here, what I expect there, and they go make plays; and so I'm looking just to continue to build on what we've only started."

George Pickens is ready for 'great opportunity'

Pickens has recorded touchdown catches in back-to-back games. According to ESPN stats, he enters the Week 4 matchup versus the 2-1 Packers third on the Cowboys with 22 targets, third with 166 receiving yards and tied for third with 13 receptions.

"Oh, it's a great opportunity," Pickens said about what likely will be an increased workload on Sunday night. "... I just want to show up for Dak, and show for the team and get a dub."

As of Friday morning, ESPN BET had the Cowboys as 6.5-point home underdogs against the Packers. If Pickens shows up for Prescott in a big way, the two could help Dallas earn an upset victory in front of a prime-time television audience.
