Chase Elliott wins NASCAR playoff race at Kansas in wild 2OT finish

Chase Elliott won Sunday's NASCAR Cup Series playoff race at Kansas Speedway in dramatic fashion.

Bubba Wallace led at the white flag after a double overtime restart, but was challenged by Denny Hamlin on the backstretch. As Wallace and Hamlin raced for the win in Turns 3 and 4, the two made contact, which gave Elliott the opportunity he needed to make the winning pass.

"Everything worked out perfect for me," Elliott told USA Network. "What a great finish."

The victory is Elliott's second at Kansas, his second of 2025 and the 21st of his Cup Series career. It also ensures him a spot in the penultimate round of the Cup Series playoffs as he chases his second championship.

Hamlin, Christopher Bell, Chase Briscoe and Wallace rounded out the top five, with Kyle Larson, Tyler Reddick, Brad Keselowski, William Byron and Shane van Gisbergen completing the top 10.

Other notable finishers include Ross Chastain in 11th, Kyle Busch in 19th, defending Cup Series champion Joey Logano in 21st, Ryan Blaney in 24th and Austin Cindric in 30th.

Hamlin led the most laps (159) of any driver on the afternoon and swept the stages. The 59-time Cup Series winner was forced to drive the final 50 laps of the race without fully-functioning power-steering inside his No. 11 Toyota.

The Round of 12 will conclude at the Charlotte Roval on Oct. 5. The Bank of America ROVAL 400 will go green shortly after 3 p.m. ET, with coverage on USA Network, PRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
