The San Francisco Giants will be one of many teams searching for a manager this offseason after firing Bob Melvin, who went 161-163 in two seasons as manager.
With a handful of options available this managerial cycle, many have speculated that a reunion with former manager Bruce Bochy would be in order after he parted ways with the Texas Rangers.
Giants president Buster Posey put those rumors to rest, saying he spoke to Bochy about possibly joining the Giants in an organizational role, but that would not include being their next manager.
“Yeah, I talked to Boch a couple days ago and just, you know, told him that where we are currently, and I don't even know what Boch’s plans are, if he's wants to continue to manage or not," Posey said. "You know, the doors always open here for some sort of role, but the way I think things are coming into picture in my mind with where we want to go next, I don't see us going that route with Boch.”

Having nearly 30 years under his belt as a big league manager, Bochy joins Connie Mack, John McGraw and Joe Torre as one of the best managers. Bochy is sixth on the all-time list for wins, with a career win/loss record of 2,252-2,266.
During his time as manager of the Giants, Bochy was a part of one of the best stretches by a team in recent memory, winning three World Series with the Giants (2010, 2012, and 2014) in five years, and winning the National League West in two of those five seasons. He was also known for how well he used the bullpen and not being afraid to use his ace, Madison Bumgarner, to close out games.
Bochy hasn’t said whether or not he wants to continue to manage, but he will have a spot waiting for him in Cooperstown when he decides to hang it up.
Baseball insider Bob Nightengale reports that it would be a packed ballot to the Hall of Fame Class of 2027, with Posey, Bochy, and former Giants manager Dusty Baker all eligible to be elected..

If Bochy has managed his last game, it means the 2027 Hall of Fame class will be a black-and-orange party with Dusty Baker, Bochy and Posey all in same induction.
Already retiring once, this could be Bochy’s official goodbye from baseball.
