After dropping their first two games, Notre Dame has now won four in a row. On the heels of a 36-7 win over North Carolina State, the question now becomes: have the Fighting Irish managed to overcome their early-season defeats to get back into the College Football Playoff picture?
On Saturday afternoon, Notre Dame dominated the Wolfpack all day long. The Irish put up 485 total yards on offense while holding North Carolina State to just 233. Notre Dame also won the time of possession and turnover battle, culminating in yet another double-digit victory.
Freshman quarterback CJ Carr continued his personal season turnaround, throwing for 342 yards and two touchdowns. He did throw his first pick since Week 2, but the fact that he's played mostly clean football since Notre Dame suffered their last loss is a big reason why the Irish are back in the hunt.
Another Irish TOUCHDOWN.

Ever since Notre Dame fell devastatingly to then No. 16 Texas A&M by just one point, 41-40, Carr has thrown 10 touchdowns with only one turnover. That's in stark contrast to the three touchdown passes and two interceptions combined in both losses
Overall, in six games, Carr has completed 67.7% of his passes for 1,622 yards with 13 touchdowns and three picks.
The win streak hasn't just been about the offense either. Just as important as the offensive production, the Irish defense has been stellar.
Led by an imposing pass rush, one that registered four sacks on Saturday. Notre Dame's defense has held three-straight opponents to 13 or fewer points and their last two to single digits. Before giving up only seven to North Carolina State, Notre Dame allowed only one touchdown to the Broncos and 13 points to Arkansas.

Resume-wise, Notre Dame's wins have been against three Power Four programs in Purdue, Arkansas and North Carolina State and a Boise State team out of the Group of 5 that made the College Football Playoff last season.
Obviously, Notre Dame is going to need to win out in order to earn a true shot at returning to the College Football Playoff and a chance to avenge losing to Ohio State for last season's national title.
But if Notre Dame can complete the regular season at 10-2, it's then possible their two losses are viewed as "quality" enough to not hold them back from an opportunity at the postseason.
In addition to the loss to the Aggies, now a perfect 6-0 following a 34-17 win over Florida, Notre Dame opened the season falling at the hands of ACC favorite Miami (FL) 27-24. Miami was ranked No. 10 at that time, but has propelled itself all the way to the No. 2 spot as they are undefeated at 5-0.
And based on what's happened around the country and how the Irish have been playing during their four-game win streak, they should be able to stay in the mix as long as they avoid any regression and being tripped up.
Placement in the Associated Press Poll does not guarantee inclusion in the College Football Playoff, but Notre Dame, which entered the week at No. 16, is likely to move up closer to the top 12 ahead of Week 8.
Notre Dame will host USC next Saturday in a nightcap that's set to kick off at 7:30 pm ET.
