How Giants' Jaxson Dart bounced back from Saints loss to earn huge win over Eagles

The New York Giants were responsible for six turnovers (one on downs) in their 26-14 loss to what had been a winless New Orleans Saints side back on Oct. 5. Rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart gave the ball away three times that Sunday afternoon.

Four days later, Dart guided the Giants to an impressive 34-17 win over the Philadelphia Eagles that improved New York to 2-4 on the season. While speaking with reporters on Wednesday, Dart touched upon how his experience against the Saints helped prepare him to face the defending Super Bowl champions on Oct. 9.

What Jaxson Dart learned from loss to Saints

"You got to be able to weather the storm," Dart said about the lessons he took from the Saints game, per Evan Barnes of Newsday. "Not everything’s going to be perfect. There’s going to be mistakes. There’s going to be momentum shifts throughout every game. I think for us, just trying to weather all that, regardless if good things are happening or bad things, [we want to] be able to reset each and every play to try to put our team in the best situation."

The Athletic's Ted Nguyen mentioned that Dart showed "signs of rapid development" against the Eagles as the 22-year-old completed 17-of-25 passes for 195 yards with a touchdown and no interceptions. Dart also rushed for 58 yards and a score as he notched a second win across three starts.

Dart and first-year running back Cam Skattebo became household names, if only for a short time, after the two had stellar outings against the Eagles. That seemed to mean little to Dart on Wednesday.

Jaxson Dart has one big regret about his first three NFL starts

"We should have won the three in a row," Dart added during his comments, according to the Giants' website. That's something that I look back on...But definitely just trying to learn from those experiences, learn from the good and from the bad of each of those games, and just trying to prepare for each week. But I think the vibe is just we're trying to set a standard in the locker room, we're trying to play tough, we're trying to win at all costs. The guys are coming to work with the right mindset."

Dart will look to pick up a third victory as New York's QB1 when the Giants play at the Denver Broncos (4-2) this coming Sunday. As of Thursday morning, ESPN BET had Big Blue as a big 7.5-point underdog for that matchup.
