Latest injury report signals worrisome news for Commanders

The injury bug has been making its rounds throughout the NFL this season, and it is beginning to heavily affect the Washington Commanders.

Thursday injury report

Washington provided its team injury report for Thursday, and it has given fans major reason to worry about Sunday's NFC East showdown against the Dallas Cowboys.

Wide receivers Terry McLaurin (quad) and Deebo Samuel (heel) were both absent from Thursday's practice, putting their status for Sunday's game against Dallas up in the air.

If neither can go, it would be the first time this season that both McLaurin and Samuel were out in the same game.

Alternative options

Without their top two receivers, the Commanders may have to rely on a group of heavily inexperienced group of receivers against Dallas.

That group includes Luke McCaffrey, Jaylin Lane and Tay Martin. Chris Moore is the most experienced healthy receiver, as he's in the eighth season of his career.

Washington also has receivers Robbie Chosen and Jacoby Jones on its practice squad and has taken a chance by signing a former first-round bust.

Friday's report

Washington's injury report on Friday should give a clearer indication of the status for Sunday's contest. Without their top two receivers, the Commanders will be facing a tall task, even against a Cowboys defense that is among the worst in the league.
