Bo Nix etches his name in Broncos lore with miraculous comeback

At halftime, Denver Broncos fans were ready to see head coach Sean Payton bench Bo Nix. Fast forward to the fourth quarter and those same fans were cheering their young starting quarterback on as he led Denver to a miraculous comeback.

The final score shows Denver beat the New York Giants, 33-32, on Sunday. However, what the final score fails to highlight is how improbable the close win actually was.

If his solid rookie season last year wasn't enough, Nix is now part of Broncos lore forever after helping Denver erase a 19-0 hole on Sunday. And in the comeback effort, Nix scored four fourth quarter touchdowns.

Nix, who finished the game completing 27-of-50 passes, recorded 218 of his 327 total yards in the fourth quarter alone. He ended up throwing for 279 yards and then adding 48 more on the ground.

Knowing many fans left early, assuming the home team was destined for a loss, Nix was able to revel in his triumph enough after the game to jokingly provide his sympathy for those who doubted him and his teammates throughout the first three quarters of the game.

"I felt bad for the people that left early," said Nix, the 12th overall pick of the 2024 NFL Draft, with a big smile to CBS Sports' Melanie Collins before leaving the field to celebrate his late-game heroics.

Instead of suffering its third loss of the season, Denver was able to instead extend its win steak to four games. The Broncos now sit at the top of the AFC West at 5-2.

To Nix's credit, he's proving 2024 was no fluke — he now has 1,556 passing yards and 172 rushing yards with 14 total touchdowns and just four interceptions through seven games so far in 2025.
