The Denver Broncos pulling off a historic comeback on a day when they honored former wide receiver Demaryius Thomas made the victory even sweeter for the team.
Before Sunday's home game against the New York Giants, Denver posthumously inducted Thomas into the Broncos Ring of Fame. The five-time Pro Bowler died of complications from a seizure disorder at 33 in December 2021.
The Broncos celebrated Thomas during the team's alumni weekend, which also commemorated the 10-year reunion of the team that won Super Bowl 50, which included the WR.
Following the 33-32 win, Denver WR Courtland Sutton, who is still carrying out one of his mentors' traditions, discussed how the festivities fueled the rally against the Giants.
"To drive in and see the impact he had on the city, it was an emotional thing, man," Sutton said in a postgame news conference while wearing a Thomas jersey. "To see so many 88 jerseys, to know that everyone came out to not only support the Broncos, but there was a vast number of people who supported the legacy that DT left with this organization."

It appeared a Giants upset would overshadow Denver's day for Thomas. At the end of the third quarter, the Broncos trailed 19-0.
"For us to be able to get a win on this day makes the day that much more special. We didn't want there to be a dark cloud over something as special and monumental [as this day]," Sutton said. "We didn't want it to be an L, especially the way it was trending before the fourth quarter."
In the fourth quarter, the Broncos unexpectedly regrouped, scoring 33 points. Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, that was the most in the fourth quarter by any team that had been shut out in the first three quarters in NFL history.
Sutton — who finished with six receptions for 87 yards — made many key plays during this stretch. This included catching a pass from Broncos second-year quarterback Bo Nix on a two-point conversion early in the fourth quarter, cutting the deficit to 19-8.
"To be able to put together a fight the way we did and come out with a victory on such a special day celebrating two iconic pieces of this organization, it was amazing," Sutton said.
