Dre Greenlaw played in his first game for the Denver Broncos after he returned from injured reserve on Sunday, but the veteran linebacker has now been suspended for Week 8.
The NFL announced on Monday that Greenlaw has been suspended one game for unsportsmanlike conduct because of his actions toward referee Brad Allen following Denver's 33-32 win over the New York Giants on Sunday. The league said in a statement that Greenlaw chased Allen and verbally threatened him as the official was leaving the field after the game ended.
Greenlaw was found to be in violation of Rule 12, Section 3, Article 1(b), which prohibits “the use of abusive, threatening or insulting language or gestures to opponents, teammates, officials, or representatives of the League.”
Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that Greenlaw will appeal the suspension.

A video captured by Alex Wilcox of CBS News Colorado appeared to show Greenlaw going after Allen as the Broncos were celebrating kicker Wil Lutz's 39-yard game-winning field goal. Greenlaw ran toward Allen and looked like he was shouting at the referee before pointing at him in a threatening fashion.
Though the game had ended, Allen threw a flag. A teammate then came over to pull Greenlaw away.
Something caught my eye from Lutz's game-winning kick yesterday:

After the play, Dre Greenlaw runs after the ref, yelling at him, and the ref actually throws a flag.
It was after the play, and the game was over, so idk what happens.

It is unclear why Greenlaw was so angry with Allen, but the Broncos were on the wrong end of a pass interference call late in the fourth quarter. Denver was leading 30-26 when cornerback Riley Moss was called for a questionable pass interference penalty on Giants wide receiver Beaux Collins with 40 seconds remaining in the game.
The penalty put New York at the 2-yard line. The Broncos were then called for unsportsmanlike conduct after head coach Sean Payton came out to protest the call. That gave the Giants the ball at the 1-yard line, and Jaxson Dart ran for a go-ahead touchdown on the following play.
Denver still managed to come back and win, but Greenlaw was obviously furious about something. The 28-year-old signed a three-year, $35M deal with the Broncos during the offseason and was held out for the first six weeks because of a quad injury. He had six total tackles in his debut with the team on Sunday, but he may now have to take another week off.
