Giants' Cam Skattebo shares message on social media after gruesome injury

New York Giants running back Cam Skattebo will miss the remainder of the 2025 season after he suffered a gruesome ankle injury on Sunday, but the rookie seems to be staying positive.

Skattebo dislocated his ankle when he was dragged to the turf by a defender during the Giants' 38-20 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 8. He was carted off the field and transported to a local hospital for further evaluation.

Skattebo underwent surgery on Sunday evening, and all indications are that the procedure went well. The former Arizona State star shared a message on social media Monday night thanking fans for their support and expressing optimism.

"Thank you everyone for the support!! Surgery went well. I just want to thank the city of Philly for taking the best care of me. Every moment I spent in the hospital with family and friends I felt loved and supported in every way thank you to the doctors, surgeons, and staff that did their best work on me. This is just the beginning of my journey and I can’t wait to show you guys all about it!!! GOD has a plan for me , stick the course and it will all work itself out, BRB," Skattebo wrote on X.

Cam Skattebo was having an outstanding season

The Giants will miss Skattebo, as the rookie had become the focal point of their offense. New York relied on Skattebo both in the run and pass games, especially after Malik Nabers went down with a torn ACL in Week 4.

Skattebo had 410 rushing yards and 207 receiving yards in seven-plus games. He scored seven total touchdowns. The production was even more impressive when you consider that Skattebo only got four touches in Week 1. The Giants began relying on him much more heavily after that, and for good reason.

Skattebo had been displaying the same type of ferocious running style and tackle-breaking ability that made him a Heisman Trophy candidate in college. Doctors expect him to have a lengthy road to recovery, but it sounds like Skattebo could be back to full strength in time for Week 1 next season.
