Stephen Curry makes young fan's night even more memorable with 46-point outburst

Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry has had many memorable moments with young fans throughout his 17-year career, but he may have provided one of his most touching on Wednesday night.

Before a road game against the San Antonio Spurs, Curry met with a young fan with a prosthetic leg. The fan told the guard he was his "favorite player" and asked for a picture of Curry. Of course, Curry obliged, and he also signed his leg. The four-time champion then made his night even more special.

Stephen Curry torched the Spurs

Heading into Wednesday's game, Curry was coming off one of his worst games this season. In a 126-102 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder on Tuesday, he scored a season-low 11 points on 4-of-13 shooting from the field. But he rediscovered his shooting stroke against the Spurs.

Curry scored a season-high 46 points on 13-of-25 shooting from the field, leading the Warriors to a 125-120 win. He also had five rebounds and five assists.

With that performance, Curry has now broken a tie with Kevin Durant for the most games with 40 points or more in NBA history. Curry has 73 such games, while Durant has 72.

Curry, 37, could continue to climb that list this season. He already has two games with 40-plus points. He scored 42 points in a 137-131 overtime win over the Denver Nuggets on Oct. 23. Entering Wednesday night, the guard ranked 16th in the league in scoring (25 PPG).

In a postgame news conference, Warriors head coach Steve Kerr joked it was a "routine" night for Curry, who has had many absurd scoring outbursts in his illustrious career (via Dalton Johnson of NBC Sports Bay Area). Remember, he scored a career-high 62 points in a 137-122 win over the Portland Trail Blazers in January 2021.

However, Wednesday night reminded fans to appreciate his greatness and his ability to make them smile. Curry's heartwarming gesture to the young fan will undoubtedly give him something to discuss at the lunch table when he goes to school on Thursday. More importantly, he provided a night he'll never forget.
