Since the second half of the 2024 season, wide receiver A.J. Brown hasn't hesitated to express his frustrations about his role in the Philadelphia Eagles' offense. Although Brown was the focus of some intriguing trade rumors, he stayed with the team through the Nov. 4 deadline.
Nevertheless, it seems like Brown is not thriving with the reigning Super Bowl champions.
Per Bob Brookover of NJ Advance Media for NJ.com, Brown appeared on a stream with social media personality JankyRondo on Tuesday night. Brown was asked if things have "been good" for him.
"Family good. Everything else, no," Brown responded. He later said that he's "struggling, brother" while dealing with an apparent "sh-- show."
Brown has repeatedly raised eyebrows with cryptic social media messages and head-scratching comments. On Oct. 4, The Athletic's Dianna Russini reported that Brown and fellow Eagles receiver DeVonta Smith wanted "more touchdowns."
ESPN stats show that tight end Dallas Goedert leads the Eagles with seven receiving touchdowns this season. Meanwhile, Smith and Brown are tied for second with three TD catches.
According to ESPN, Brown is 50th in the league with 408 receiving yards and tied for 61st with 31 receptions. In Monday night's ugly 10-7 win over the Green Bay Packers, which improved the Eagles to 7-2, Brown tallied just two receptions for 13 yards.
The 28-year-old recently admitted that "it’s frustrating at times" when he doesn't receive opportunities "to contribute" during games.
As Mike Chiari shared for Bleacher Report, Brown said during the stream that fantasy football owners who have him on their teams should "get rid of me." Brown also said that using the version of himself to score touchdowns in the "Madden" video game is generating the "only highlights of d--- football I'm living right now."
It could be interesting to see if Brown sees an increase in targets when the Eagles host the Detroit Lions (6-3) this Sunday night. As of Wednesday afternoon, ESPN BET had Philadelphia as a 2.5-point favorite for that matchup.
Meanwhile, one can't help but wonder whether the Eagles will ultimately regret not trading Brown.
