A.J. Brown addresses latest controversial comments after Eagles' win over Lions

Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown once again made it known last week he was less than pleased with the overall state of the Philadelphia offense and with his lackluster numbers on the season.

Brown then led the Eagles in receptions (seven), targets (11) and receiving yards (49) to help the club notch a gritty 16-9 win over the Detroit Lions that improved Philadelphia to 8-2 on Sunday night. Following the victory, Brown addressed controversial comments he made on Nov. 11 about the "sh-- show" outside of his personal life.

A.J. Brown wants Eagles' offense to be better

"It wasn’t about targets last week or the week before,"  Brown said about his latest complaints, per Greg Giesen and Martin Frank of the Delaware News Journal. "It wasn’t about that at all. It was me trying to help and contribute. That’s all. Regardless of what that looked like in phases, I think I did. But like I said, I think there’s a lot of stuff that we as an offense and me myself, that we gotta continue to get better at."

After Brown recorded two catches for 13 yards on three targets in Philadelphia's 10-7 win over the Green Bay Packers on Nov. 10, he advised fantasy football players to "get rid of me." He later said that he felt the Eagles couldn't "just keep slapping the Band-Aid over the defense doing their job and getting us out of trouble."

In a sense, that's exactly what happened at Lincoln Financial Field on Sunday night. While the Eagles scored only one offensive touchdown, their defense stopped the Lions five times on fourth down. Detroit quarterback Jared Goff completed only 14-of-37 pass attempts for 255 yards with one touchdown and one interception in the defeat that dropped the Lions to 6-4.

A.J. Brown still not satisfied

"We’ve still just got to do a better job on offense and get our stuff going," Brown added after Sunday's win, according to Johnny McGonigal of PennLive. "There’s a lot of room for improvement. Lot of self-inflicted wounds. ...As soon as we got going, we shot ourselves in the foot. That’s something we can clean up. If someone just beats us, then hat’s off to them. But there are some things we’re doing."

The Eagles will have an opportunity to clean things up when they face the Dallas Cowboys on Nov. 23. 3-5-1 Dallas plays at the Las Vegas Raiders (2-7) on Monday night.
