The Arkansas Razorbacks have been no stranger to heartbreaking losses this season, and Saturday's rivalry game against LSU was no exception.
Arkansas led 14-0 after the first quarter but lost, 23-22, allowing the Tigers to earn bowl eligibility and keep the famed Golden Boot Trophy given the winner of the annual meeting between the two schools.
The loss dropped Arkansas to 2-8 overall and 0-6 in Southeastern Conference play. It was also the sixth loss for the Razorbacks this season by one possession and their eighth in a row.
The Hogs have also dropped one-score games this season to the likes of Ole Miss, Memphis, Tennessee, Texas A&M and Mississippi State. Their only loss by double digits was a 56-13 drubbing at the hands of Notre Dame that was the catalyst for former head coach Sam Pittman's firing the next day on Sept. 28.
5 of Arkansas’ 8 losses are by a combined 11 points. In addition, they have a 6 pt loss at Ole Miss in which they fumbled on their final drive in Ole Miss territory, and a 9-pt loss to AU when they were leading with 9 mins to play before 4 straight turnovers. That’s psyche. #wps

Interim head coach Bobby Petrino has gotten his squad to fight after Pittman was fired, but Petrino admitted on Monday that keeping a locker room together amidst a string of tough losses is no easy task.
"It feels like it's harder," Petrino said in a news conference on Monday. "I think it feels like it's harder because you're so disappointed after the game and after the loss. I told the guys last night how proud I am of them, by their attitude, being good teammates and sticking together."
"It certainly feels like it's getting harder to keep everyone together."

Arkansas has two more games left in its 2025 season. The Razorbacks will travel to No. 17 Texas on Saturday and conclude their season against No. 23 Missouri in Fayetteville on Nov. 29.
"No reason to stop now," Petrino said. "We might as well continue what we're doing, continue competing hard. Four of those games should've been wins from that sheet, but they're not. Every one of them is an outlier. I don't know. (We'll just) keep battling away."
Petrino, who was Arkansas' offensive coordinator entering the season, is 0-5 as the interim head coach. A win in either of Arkansas' final two games would be Petrino's first victory as the head coach at Arkansas since January 6, 2012, when he led the Razorbacks to a Cotton Bowl victory over Kansas State before an off the field issue required his dismissal from the university.
