As of Wednesday morning, it was unclear whether Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers will play when the Steelers face the 7-3 Chicago Bears at Soldier Field this Sunday. The soon-to-be 42-year-old suffered a small fracture in his left (non-throwing) wrist during Pittsburgh's 34-12 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals on Nov. 16.
Per ESPN NFL insider Dan Graziano, the Steelers seem willing to wait until later in the week to make a final call on Rodgers' status.
"As coach Mike Tomlin said Tuesday," Graziano explained, "the plan is to figure out whether they can brace and/or pad Rodgers' non-throwing hand to a point where he can take the snap from center, hand off with his left hand, protect himself when he falls, etc. This might go right up until Friday or Saturday with Rodgers pushing to play and the team having to decide if it's better off with a potentially compromised Rodgers or a fully healthy Mason Rudolph."
Rudolph replaced Rodgers against the Bengals and completed 12-of-16 passes for 127 yards and a touchdown to help the first-place Steelers reach 6-4. As Sports Illustrated's Brigid Kennedy noted, however, NFL insider Ian Rapoport said during Wednesday's edition of the "Good Morning Football" program that Rodgers "could practice later in the week and is pushing to play against his Bears."
The "his Bears" comment refers to Rodgers' "ownage" of the NFC North team. In regular-season play, Rodgers has gone 24-5 and passed for 64 touchdowns with 10 interceptions when facing them.

"The Steelers know Rudolph can do what they need him to do, so they'll use the early part of this practice week to get him — and to some extent, rookie Will Howard — ready to go in case Rodgers can't play," Graziano added.
Every game is huge for the Steelers in the battle for the AFC North title, as the Baltimore Ravens have won four straight games to get to 5-5. The Ravens host the lowly New York Jets (2-8) this Sunday.
As of Wednesday morning, ESPN BET had the Steelers as 2.5-point road underdogs against the Bears.
