Kevin Durant did what he does best on Friday night — score in an efficient manner while leading his team to victory.
However, Durant accomplished even more than just scoring a casual 28 points as the Houston Rockets beat the Phoenix Suns.
During Houston's 117-98 win over his former team, Durant became just the eighth player in league history to surpass 31,000 career points.
Durant is now among an elite group of legends that includes LeBron James, Kareem Abdul Jabbar, Karl Malone, Kobe Bryant, Michael Jordan, Dirk Nowitzki and Wilt Chamberlain.

That wasn't the only milestone he reached on the night.
The 15-time All-Star also moved into 12th place on the NBA's all-time three-pointers made list. He hit the only two threes he took out of his 28 points, giving him 2,223 three-pointers for his career.
Durant's two long-range shots moved him ahead of former three-time NBA Sixth Man of the Year Jamal Crawford.
Next up ahead of Durant is Jason Terry, who was a key piece on the Dallas Mavericks' 2011 NBA championship team, for 11th place.

Durant was also 11-of-17 from the field against Phoenix and added four rebounds and eight assists. So far through his 17 games played, Durant is averaging exactly 25.0 points, 5.1 rebounds and 3.7 assists, all solid numbers, but a bit below his normal marks.
But luckily for Durant, and unlike what he endured last season with the Suns, he doesn't need to do much more for this Rockets team to win. Houston now sits at 15-5 and only behind the 22-1 defending champion Thunder in the Western Conference standings.
Legacy-wise, winning is all that even matters for Durant at this point, too. No matter where he finishes on any all-time list, Durant will go down as one of the greatest scorers in basketball history.
Fair or unfair, showing he can lead another team on a deep playoff run — he has two rings and two Finals MVPs from his time on the dynastic Warriors, but some diminish those titles due to joining an already-stacked team — will be what can move him further up lists and rankings for the best players of all time.
