Hours after Patrick Mahomes was injured in the Kansas City Chiefs' 16-13 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers, his official diagnosis has been revealed.
It was announced on Sunday evening that Mahomes has suffered a torn ACL and will be out for the remainder of the 2025 season.
Sunday's loss officially knocked Kansas City out of the playoffs for the first time since 2014. This will be the first year of Mahomes' career as a starter that Kansas City will miss the AFC Championship game.
Mahomes was not the only NFL superstar to suffer a major injury on Sunday. Packers linebacker Micah Parsons suffered a non-contact injury during Green Bay's loss to Denver on Sunday, and his injury is also believed to be an ACL tear.

For the final three games of the regular season, Kansas City will likely turn to backup quarterback Gardner Minshew to steer the ship.
Minshew, a 29-year-old who played college football at Washington State, saw his first action of 2025 on Sunday, throwing a game-ending interception to Derwin James. 2025 is Minshew's first year with the Chiefs, as he previously spent time with the Las Vegas Raiders, Indianapolis Colts, Philadelphia Eagles and Jacksonville Jaguars.
Interestingly enough, no third-string quarterback is listed on Kansas City's depth chart. Should Minshew go down with an injury over the next three weeks, the Chiefs could be in an even worse QB situation.
