One week after overtaking the Indianapolis Colts for the AFC South lead, the Jacksonville Jaguars did not stop there.
In a game that was never in doubt, the Jaguars (10-4) manhandled the New York Jets (3-11), 48-20, behind 438 total yards of offense.
Quarterback Trevor Lawrence was a big reason why, going 20-of-32 for 330 yards and a career-high five TDs. He also ran five times for 51 yards and a TD as his career resurgence continues amid Jacksonville's pursuit of its first division title since 2022.
According to NFL Plus, Lawrence is the only player in NFL history with at least five passing TDs, one rushing TD and 50 rush yards in a single game.

This 20-yard strike from Lawrence to running back Travis Etienne Jr. capped a 31-point first-half for Jacksonville and gave Lawrence his fourth TD of the game:

The six TDs from Lawrence were enough for Jacksonville to take a 41-13 lead into the fourth quarter as backup QB Nick Mullens entered the game for the third straight week and the fourth time in the last five weeks.

The Jaguars have won five straight, but since Lawrence accounted for three interceptions in the Week 12 win over the Arizona Cardinals, he has 10 total TDs and zero interceptions, which is encouraging for a QB who has thrown 11 picks this season and 57 in his career.
Lawrence was not the only Jaguars player who went off on Sunday, either, as Etienne had a hat trick to go along with 32 rush yards and a team-high 73 receiving yards, further solidifying a team that appears to be on the rise in a new-look AFC playoff field.
One issue the Jaguars have had, aside from Lawrence's giveaways earlier this season, is penalties, averaging a league-high 8.6 per game. While they have still had at least seven penalties in three of their last five games, the improvement from Lawrence has led to an explosive offense that cannot be stopped at the moment.
Aside from a Week 16 road trip to the Denver Broncos and their fourth-best defense (18.1 PPG), a favorable schedule remains with games against the Colts and Tennessee Titans. The Houston Texans (9-5) are only one game back after overcoming an 0-3 start to the season, but the Jaguars are in position to claim the division title and carry some serious momentum into the playoffs.
If Lawrence continues to play at this level, the Jaguars are not going to be an easy out in a wide-open AFC race.
