Josh Giddey makes more Bulls history with triple-double in win

A unique theme of the season, a Chicago Bulls win meant Josh Giddey made franchise history on Wednesday night.

The Australian guard led Chicago to a convincing 127-111 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers by accomplishing something even the great Michael Jordan never achieved.

Giddey scored 23 points with 11 rebounds and 11 assists in 34 minutes, becoming the first Bulls player to ever record a triple-double while connecting on five three-pointers.

Oklahoma City's former first-round draft pick from 2021 was 8-of-18 from the field and 5-of-11 from long range, posting percentages of 44.4% and 45.5%.

Josh Giddey has been making Bulls history all season

Back in November, Giddey, now in the midst of his fifth NBA season, joined Jordan as only the second Bulls player to ever post back-to-back triple-doubles. Giddey now has six triple-doubles on the year and 24 in his career.

And despite Chicago fading out of early-season contention following a red-hot start to the year, Giddey's emergence has maintained.

Can Giddey get the Bulls back into the playoff picture?

After averaging 14.6 points per game throughout the 2024-25 season, the second-highest of his career, Giddey entered Wednesday night's game at 20.1 points, 9.3 rebounds and 8.8 assists per game, all blowing his career averages out of the water.

More important than the historic nature of Giddey's performance, the win marked only the second for the Bulls in their last 10 games. Chicago will now need more of the same from Giddey and company to get back in the playoff hunt, falling to an 11-15 mark after opening up the season 5-0 for the best start to a season for the Bulls since the Jordan era.

Even after the win, Chicago remains three games behind the Cavaliers in both the Central Division standings and ninth in the Eastern Conference.
