The Golden State Warriors are going through a bit of an organizational crisis right now.
The team is wasting Stephen Curry's heroic efforts, and it doesn't look like a championship contender. The fans are frustrated, and in a recently leaked email from team owner Joe Lacob to an angry fan, it looks like he's also going through it. Lacob claimed to be even more frustrated than the fans, and he cited the "coaches'" desires regarding players as one of the reasons behind the team's struggles.
Then again, head coach Steve Kerr has been around long enough to know when not to take the bait. Talking on 95.7 The Game's "Willard & Dibs," the Warriors coach downplayed the criticism.
"You have to be able to navigate the ups and the downs and you only do that with stability in the organization and alignment," Kerr said. "And we've had that for a long time. The email that Joe sent, you don’t really want stuff posted like private emails posted. We all have emails that if they were exposed out there, it could open up some cans of worms and that’s just part of it. So I don’t worry about it too much."
The Warriors have fallen to 13-14 and are in eighth place in the West. Their roster is old, and the Jonathan Kuminga saga has only been a distraction. There's still time to make moves and salvage their season, but it's hard to think they will find the big-name player they might need to help Curry turn this around.
