The Los Angeles Clippers' season has been an absolute nightmare so far.
From the Kawhi Leonard-Steve Ballmer scandal to sending Chris Paul home because he wanted to build winning habits, everything has gone wrong for Tyronn Lue's team.
Nevertheless, they refuse to waive the white flag.
According to a report by Ashish Mathur of the Dallas Hoops Journal, the Clippers have no intention to blow up the roster.
“The Los Angeles Clippers are rejecting trade offers for Kawhi Leonard, James Harden and Ivica Zubac," Mathur wrote. "The Clippers are 6-20. They are in 14th place in the Western Conference standings, but since their 2026 first-round pick goes to the Oklahoma City Thunder, the front office doesn’t want to blow up the roster, sources said. LAC still believes it can make a run for a play-in spot once forward Derrick Jones Jr. comes back from his knee injury.”
While that makes sense to a degree, and they have no real incentive to tank, that group clearly hasn't meshed well together.
Even if Derrick Jones Jr. moves the needle, Kawhi Leonard cannot be trusted to stay healthy, and the Clippers would be wise to trade him while they can still get something out of his steep contract.
To add insult to injury, the investigation into their alleged salary cap circumvention is still ongoing, and if found guilty, NBA Commissioner Adam Silver shouldn't hesitate to lay the hammer on them and strip them of even more draft capital.
