Carson Beck made a great admission after leading his Miami Hurricanes to a College Football Playoff game win over the Ohio State Buckeyes at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, on Wednesday night.

Miami beat Ohio State 24-14 and sealed the game with an interception on Julian Sayin. Beck, who is in his first season at Miami after transferring from Georgia, went 19/26 for 138 yards with a touchdown. He also rushed for 23 yards. That was enough for his Hurricanes to escape with a win in a close, low-scoring contest.

Beck was asked what was going through his mind on a key 3rd-and-4 that Miami converted to solidify their win.

“Shoot, I was blacked out. Man, I was blacked out, I was out there just, shoot. I was blacked out, just playing the game I love,” Beck said.

Sometimes that is the best. The less you have going through your head in big moments, the less you’re affected by the pressure. It’s still pretty funny to think that a player playing a position that demands so much mental power was “blacked out” at such a big moment. Maybe it’s better that way.
