The Milwaukee Brewers may not be shopping pitcher Freddy Peralta, but teams are asking about his availability anyway.
According to Ken Rosenthal and Will Sammon of The Athletic, the Los Angeles Dodgers and Atlanta Braves are showing interest in Peralta. They have joined several other teams that are reportedly interested in adding the Brewers ace.
Peralta had an excellent showing in 2025. He posted a 2.70 ERA and a 1.075 WHiP over his 176.2 innings, striking out 204 batters with 66 walks. Peralta is also due to earn $8M in 2026, a bargain for a top-of-the-rotation starter.
Although he has one year of team control left, Peralta would be the top pitcher available if he is on the trade block. He has made at least 30 starts each season since 2023 and his 516 innings are the 15th most in the majors in that timeframe.
Peralta would seem to be an odd fit for the Dodgers. Their rotation appears set, particularly as the Dodgers are reportedly keeping Roki Sasaki as a starting pitcher. However, the Dodgers have had one pitcher make at least 30 starts in a season over the last three years — Yoshinobu Yamamoto in 2025. Peralta's durability would have a dramatic impact on their depth.
On the other hand, Peralta would be a clear fit for teams such as the Braves, Yankees or Mets. Each of those teams have a clear need for a durable top-of-the-rotation starter. The Mets and Yankees also need to make a splash to change the narrative of their offseason; adding Peralta would be that type of move.
Freddy Peralta is drawing a great deal of attention, although the Milwaukee Brewers have reportedly left him off the trade block. They could receive an impressive haul if that changes.
