Raheem Morris may have been fired by the Atlanta Falcons after the season, but he already has an interview for a head coach job lined up elsewhere.
ESPN’s Peter Schrager reported on Monday that the Tennessee Titans plan to interview Morris for their head coach job. The Titans have gone 3-14 in consecutive seasons and fired Brian Callahan after a 1-5 start. Mike McCoy took over and fared no better as the team went 2-9 under him.
Morris was fired after leading the Falcons to an 8-9 record. It was the second straight 8-9 record for Atlanta under Morris. The team had also gone 7-10 in three straight seasons under Arthur Smith, so there is no doubt they have had consistency — just the wrong kind.
Would Morris be an upgrade for the Titans over what they have had the last two seasons? Probably, but would can he turn the team around the way they need it? That’s a different question.
Tennessee needs a smart, tough head coach — the sort of person who can command a room and get his players playing hard. Someone who instills a culture of going after every yard. You know, someone exactly like the great coach they had but fired.
One thing to note with the Titans job is that they need to develop quarterback Cam Ward, who was the No. 1 pick in the 2025 draft. That need may not work in Morris’ favor considering he has a defensive background.
