The Toronto Blue Jays have been one of the more active teams in free agency this offseason.
Pitchers Dylan Cease and Cody Ponce were brought in to help fortify the rotation, giving the Blue Jays an impressive group of starting pitchers. Tyler Rogers was signed to a three-year deal to improve the middle of the bullpen. Then, on Saturday, the Blue Jays signed corner infielder Kazuma Okamoto to a four-year contract as they turned their attention to the lineup.
The Blue Jays may not be done improving the lineup. According to Mitch Bannon of The Athletic, the Blue Jays are ramping up their pursuit of outfielder Kyle Tucker. Sportsnet's Ben Nicholson-Smith noted that the two sides have had recent discussions, but the Blue Jays have not ruled out bringing back shortstop Bo Bichette either.
Arguably the top free agent this offseason, Tucker had a strong showing in 2025 for the Cubs. He posted a .266/.377/.464 batting line over his 597 plate appearances, hitting 22 homers and 25 doubles while stealing 25 bases.
Tucker has been linked to the Blue Jays for some time as he visited the team's spring training facility on Dec. 3. He would likely move fellow outfielder Anthony Santander to left, but the Blue Jays could install Santander as their primary designated hitter and get George Springer more time in the outfield.
Although Bichette is a cleaner fit in Toronto, the Blue Jays may not be able to sign both players. As the Blue Jays have been engaged with Tucker's representatives throughout the offseason, he may be their primary target. Tucker would make an already-dangerous lineup even deeper, but it may cost the Blue Jays a homegrown player in free agency.
