Kansas City Chiefs star tight end Travis Kelce was the subject of retirement rumors long before the Chiefs finished a disappointing season with a record of 6-11.
Shortly after the Chiefs ended the campaign with a loss at the rival Las Vegas Raiders, Kelce hinted that he could "take some time" to reveal whether or not he will continue playing. During the latest edition of his podcast, media insider Andrew Marchand of The Athletic suggested Kelce may have millions of reasons to ride off into the sunset of retirement this offseason.
"I think Travis Kelce is one who, if he retires, definitely could do TV," Marchand explained, per Billy Heyen of the Sporting News. "I think he wants to do games, so that’s one to watch."
Kelce has accepted acting jobs and was previously named the host of Amazon’s "Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?" program. His brother, former Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce, began working as part of ESPN’s NFL coverage in 2024.
A recent report said that Mike Tomlin could soon step down as head coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers to accept a job working as an on-air analyst for one of the NFL's major media partners. In-the-know individuals have since poured cold water over such chatter, but it nevertheless seems as if networks are going big-game hunting at the start of the new year.
"He’s a guy who is only going to take a No. 1 job, to me," Marchand added during the podcast. "He’s going to get anywhere from $10M to $20M (per year), because he’s Travis Kelce."
Travis Kelce is in the final year of his playing contract, and he turned 36 years old this past fall. Meanwhile, he and entertainment superstar Taylor Swift are planning a wedding that reportedly will take place in June 2026.
Perhaps Travis will already have his next NFL-related gig lined up before he says "I do" during what's bound to be one of the most-discussed celebrity events of the year.
