Jason Garrett has been out of NFL coaching since the 2021 season, but one team with a vacancy has him in mind as a candidate.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Tuesday that Garrett is set to interview on Friday for the Tennessee Titans head coach vacancy. The Titans are looking for a new head coach after firing Brian Callahan early in the season. They finished the season 3-14 and have had that same record for two years in a row.

Garrett was the head coach of the Cowboys from 2010-2019 and went 85-67, making the playoffs three times. His teams went 8-8 four times, which was a source of disappointment for their fans and franchise.

For the two seasons after his firing by Dallas, Garrett served as offensive coordinator for the New York Giants. His teams ranked 31st in yards and points in the NFL both seasons.

Since being fired by the Giants, Garrett has worked in TV as an analyst for NBC. But now he has a chance to get back into the NFL as a coach if he can really impress the Titans.

The last time Garrett was mentioned in connection with a coaching vacancy was in 2022 when he was said to have been a finalist for the Stanford job.
