The Dallas Cowboys seemingly aren't all that close to returning to the NFL mountaintop after they failed to reach the playoffs and finished this season with a record of 7-9-1.
Nevertheless, Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones confirmed while speaking with reporters on Wednesday that he is pursuing more than one last Super Bowl championship at the age of 83.
"My goal in life is to retire as the owner to win the most Super Bowls," Jones explained, per Jon Machota of The Athletic.
As Machota noted, New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft tops the list with six Super Bowl rings, while Jones has three.
"I got work to do," Jones acknowledged.
History suggests Jones has quite an uphill battle ahead of him. The Cowboys haven't appeared in even a conference title game since they won Super Bowl XXX in 1996, and Dallas' last postseason victory occurred in January 2023.
More recently, the Cowboys fired defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus on Tuesday. According to Machota, Jones said on Wednesday that head coach Brian Schottenheimer will be involved in the hiring of Eberflus' replacement:
What is #Cowboys HC Brian Schottenheimer looking for in his next defensive coordinator, where he says Dallas will "cast a wide net of candidates?":

Jones' most controversial decision related to the 2025 season involved trading star pass-rusher Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers for two first-round draft picks and Pro Bowl defensive tackle Kenny Clark in late August. On Wednesday, Jones suggested that the Cowboys could eventually be seen as the winners of the Parsons trade.
"The very best of what we were trying to get involving the Micah Parsons trade is all out there ahead of us," Jones said, per Tommy Yarrish of the Cowboys' website. "It's all ahead of us. We've got some of it on the field already. We're gonna get more of it on the field and in the draft. The very best of the trade is out there."
There's no way of knowing if the Cowboys would be closer to winning a Super Bowl with Parsons on their roster. That said, it sounds like Jones may be willing to make a big splash via a trade either before or during the upcoming draft as he attempts to collect at least one more championship ring.
