The Orlando Magic and Brooklyn Nets put on a show Wednesday night, so it was only fitting that the game went to overtime and came down to the final play.
Despite the late-game heroics from Nets rookie Egor Demin, it was not enough to outlast the Magic (21-17), who prevailed in a 104-103 OT thriller after forward Paolo Banchero's game-winning triple off the in-bounds pass.
Banchero finished with 30 points (11-of-19 FG), 14 rebounds and six assists and helped the Magic escape after blowing an 18-point lead and getting outscored 29-14 in the fourth quarter.
The Magic were only 9-of-33 (27%) from three-point range the entire game, so it was only fitting that Banchero's game-winner was banked in.

This comes after Banchero hit the go-ahead bucket with 7.5 seconds left to help Orlando rally from a 10-point deficit to defeat the Indiana Pacers, 112-110, on New Year's Eve.
Banchero's heroics were preceded by Demin, who put the Nets (11-23) on his back and capped a 20-6 Brooklyn run to tie the game at 93 and force the extra frame. He scored all 10 of Brooklyn's points in OT, 13 straight between the fourth quarter and OT and 18 points in the game.

Forward Michael Porter Jr. led the Nets with 34 points (12-of-24 FG, 8-of-18 3PT), but Demin was instrumental in getting the Nets back in the game and even forcing OT.
In the end, it was not enough to outlast Banchero, who continues to fill the void with the team's leading scorer, Franz Wagner (22.7 PPG), out of action with a high left ankle sprain. During Wagner's absence, Banchero has scored at least 20 points nine times, including two triple-doubles.
The Magic have had an inconsistent season so far, failing to win consecutive games since a third straight victory on Dec. 1. A lot of that is due to Orlando's poor three-point shooting, which is tied for 26th (34.1%).
While that was the case once again on Wednesday, Banchero's clutch performance was enough to overcome the woes this time around and prevent Demin from getting the final say.
