Chiefs among three NFL teams that need to hire Mike McDaniel

The Miami Dolphins have decided to move on from head coach Mike McDaniel. This was a somewhat shocking decision, given that he was reportedly set to be a part of the interviewing process for their GM position.

Moreover, the Dolphins brought in multiple GMs with ties to McDaniel, including San Francisco 49ers director of scouting and football operations Josh Williams. Perhaps the Dolphins want to enter the race for John Harbaugh, or maybe it was just time to pull the plug. Whatever the case, McDaniel's sharp offensive mind could be put to great use with multiple teams that need a new offensive coordinator.

Washington Commanders

The Washington Commanders shockingly parted ways with Kliff Kingsbury. Now, McDaniel can bring his career back from the ground by helping Jayden Daniels recover his level from his rookie season.

Injuries aside, the Commanders have a strong offensive line, a true star WR1 and a potential superstar dual-threat quarterback. He's also familiar with Deebo Samuel, who they may want to re-sign.

Jayden Daniels thrived in Kingsbury's "college-like" offense, and McDaniel's deep bag of trick plays and deception could take his game to the next level.

Cleveland Browns

The Cleveland Browns will probably reshape their entire coaching staff. Offensive coordinator Tommy Rees could take a job in college, and even if that's not the case, McDaniel would be a significant upgrade.

He has ties to the organization from his previous days there as an assistant. And even though the Browns don't have as many weapons as other teams, they desperately need someone to take their offense to the 21st century.

The Browns will probably take a WR1 in the NFL Draft, and while there are big questions about their quarterback situation, McDaniel made Tua Tagovailoa look like a star at times.

Kansas City Chiefs

This one might be the most complicated, but it may also be the most impactful for all parties involved. If Matt Nagy leaves, as expected, the Kansas City Chiefs must be all over Mike McDaniel.

He might be one of the few people Andy Reid would accept handing over play-calling duties. Even if that's not the case, he'd be in the spotlight, and there's no better way to revive your career than by helping Patrick Mahomes be Patrick Mahomes again.

The Chiefs' heartbreaking season gave the team the perfect opportunity to get a clean slate. Now, they must go all-in and spare no effort to make sure they get back to the mountaintop.
