After his Houston Rockets lost to Victor Wembanyama's San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday night, Kevin Durant was still willing to share some advice for the young superstar.
Durant, who scored 24 points and moved further up an NBA all-time list — he's 10th in threes made — during the Rockets' 111-99 loss, was asked what he learned over the years when teams realized he shoots over anyone.
This question was in reference to one of the aspects of Wembanyama's game that he's still trying to figure out and perfect.
"They just started all out double-teaming after a point, triple teaming sometimes. I mean, they not gonna get to the shot. They can contest all they want, but they try to deny and not let me catch the ball. It's that simple," explained Durant, detailing what he's dealt with throughout his career.

Durant, listed at 6-foot-11, doesn't have the advantage Wembanyama does at 7-foot-4, which could make the 2023 No. 1 overall pick even more dangerous from anywhere on the court once he learns how to handle any defensive strategy against him.
Not only did Wembanyama's team win the game, but he also got the better of Durant when comparing their individual performances.
Durant hit 8-of-17 shots for a 47.1% clip from the field and added six assist and two rebounds in 36 minutes. But Wembanyama put up 28 points in 29 minutes for a 53.3% shooting night. He posted a double-double, finishing his line with 16 boards and three assists.
The loss also puts Houston further behind San Antonio in the Western Conference standings. The Rockets are now 28-17 and in fourth place, placing them three games back of the Spurs, who hold a 32-15 record as the No. 2 seed.
The next matchup between the established Durant and the ascending Wembanyama will take place in San Antonio on March 8.
