Tom Brady could push the Raiders toward a Lamar Jackson trade

The Baltimore Ravens made one thing loud and clear with John Harbaugh's firing: It's time for change.

They were supposed to be a powerhouse in the AFC this season, but a subpar defense, questionable decision-making and Lamar Jackson's injuries got in the way.

Now, with no contract extension and a history of injuries, there might be some questions about Jackson's future with the organization.

Considering that, NFL insider Mike Florio believes that the Las Vegas Raiders and Ravens could help each other out. The Raiders have the No. 1 pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, and they could use a franchise quarterback.

Raiders could make a move for Lamar Jackson

"The first pick, which would give the Ravens a straight shot at quarterback Fernando Mendoza (or the ability to re-trade the pick for a king’s ransom), for the two-time MVP who is now 29 and often injured," Florio wrote.

Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti recently set a deadline for a potential contract extension with Jackson.

While that shows that he still wants to keep the two-time MVP around, negotiations with Jackson — who doesn't have an agent — have often been difficult.

The Raiders have the assets and the cap space to pull the trigger here. Also, adding a top-tier quarterback to a room with young talent like tight end Brock Bowers and running back Ashton Jeanty could help lure more stars to Sin City.

That's also where Tom Brady enters the picture.

Tom Brady's influence will be crucial

"The key to a possible Jackson trade, from the Raiders’ perspective, is minority owner Tom Brady," Florio wrote. "Although Brady managed (somehow) to avoid taking widespread public flak for the abject failure of the franchise in 2025, he’s now front and center."

Brady has always taken pride in being competitive, so he's by no means happy with how things fared this season.

If he has as much input as reports suggest, Brady will probably play a huge role in the Raiders' decision-making process this offseason.

And while the first domino still needs to fall and they need a head coach first, landing the greatest scrambling quarterback of all time looks like a perfect way to straighten the course of the ship.
