The Warriors have not formally confirmed the diagnosis, but Jimmy Butler and his representation on Tuesday left little doubt about the severity of the injury.
Reports late Monday indicated that Butler suffered a torn ACL. While the Warriors have yet to issue an official update, Butler appeared to acknowledge the news with a brief Instagram post, sharing an edited image of himself in a military uniform labeled “General Soreness” and adding the caption “Be back before you know it.”
A more detailed response came from Butler’s agent, Bernie Lee, who provided a statement to ESPN’s Anthony Slater. Lee described the injury as a significant blow but expressed confidence in Butler’s ability to handle the recovery process.
“Obviously a gut punch on every level for Jimmy and the entire group,” Lee said, “but I firmly believe that this is part of the journey and we can’t only expect to take the good things out of it.”
Lee added that his belief in Butler remains unchanged, saying he is convinced the six-time All-Star will win a championship before his career is over. He also emphasized Butler’s resilience and the approach he expects from him during rehab.
Either way, the focus remains on next steps. Lee said functional decisions would be made in the coming days before Butler turns his attention fully to the recovery process.
Until the Warriors provide official confirmation, the situation remains technically unresolved. Still, all signs point to a long road back for Butler, with optimism centered on how he will attack the challenge ahead.
