Travis Kelce's career decision is one of the main storylines of the NFL offseason.
The future Hall of Famer admitted before the start of the season that this might be the end of the line for him. He later confirmed that he'd take some time to make a decision. He promised to let the team know with enough time so it could plan accordingly. Now, in the latest edition of his "New Heights" podcast with his brother Jason, he may have tipped his hand.
Kelce reacted to the news that Eric Bieniemy is expected to return to the Chiefs as offensive coordinator. And judging by the way he talked, it seems like he expects to be back on the field again in 2026.
“I can’t wait to see him back in the building man, he’s one of my favorite coaches of all time, one of my favorite people of all time,” Kelce said. “I've had so many unbelievable moments under him as a player, as a person, and I just love the guy. It’s gonna be awesome to see him back in the building, see him back wearing the Chiefs logo.”
Patrick Mahomes is aggressively tackling his rehab process to be ready for Week 1, and having Kelce by his side would certainly help this team's chances. Bieniemy brought the best of the Chiefs offense and was instrumental in both of their developments. He's one of Andy Reid's most trusted assistants and would come back with fresh ideas after one year under Ben Johnson's tutelage.
Kelce finished the season with 76 catches on 108 targets for 851 yards and five touchdowns. So, even if he's not the bona fide superstar he used to be, he can clearly still perform at a superlative level.
