Latest comments from Raiders' Maxx Crosby won't silence trade rumors

Las Vegas Raiders pass-rusher Maxx Crosby once again became the subject of trade rumors back in December when he made it known he was "not happy" about being shut down before the end of the season because of a lingering knee injury.

On Wednesday, Crosby spoke with reporters at a charitable event for his foundation. One of his comments will likely generate talking points in markets occupied by teams in need of some defensive help this winter.

When was the last time Maxx Crosby was in touch with Raiders?

"I haven't talked to them in a while," Crosby said about the Raiders, per Ryan McFadden of ESPN.

Crosby seemed to commit his future to the Raiders, the team that drafted him back in 2019, when he signed a three-year, $106.5M contract extension last offseason. However, much has changed for the franchise since that time.

Las Vegas relieved head coach Pete Carroll of his duties shortly after he finished his first season on the job with a record of 3-14. It's also now clear that Raiders minority owner Tom Brady and general manager John Spytek are basically running football operations for the organization.

Some seem convinced Brady will push Spytek to make a big splash to improve the club's quarterback situation, and such whispers have added to the uncertainty of Crosby's future. For what it's worth, Crosby said that Brady and Spytek have "not really" kept him informed regarding the team's ongoing search for a new head coach.

When will Maxx Crosby be ready to return to football activities?

The fact that Crosby underwent meniscus surgery earlier in January could lead some to question when he will be ready to contribute for either the Raiders or a different team. On Wednesday, he insisted he will be "more than ready" to go by the time training-camp practices get underway this summer.

"Recovery has been great," Crosby added. "We're doing everything right and checking every single box and taking it one day at a time."

That wasn't a "come get me" message from Crosby. That said, it sounds like interested teams can feel confident that the 28-year-old will be his old self by the time September 2026 comes around.
