Plenty of great running backs have gone through Athens, Ga., on their way to the NFL, and 2027 five-star running back Kemon Spell wants to be one of them.
Spell, from McKeesport, Pa., is an elite recruit. According to the 247Sports Composite, he's ranked as the No. 1 running back in the 2027 class and the No. 7 recruit overall.
As the consensus top player from the state of Pennsylvania, it made sense when he committed to the Penn State Nittany Lions. That commitment fell off when former head coach James Franklin was fired back in October, though.
The Nittany Lions couldn't keep him interested, and instead, a trio of big-time programs — the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Miami Hurricanes and Georgia Bulldogs — jumped into the fray.
Spell was in Athens last weekend for a recruiting event, and being there in person was apparently enough to put the Bulldogs over the top. On Monday, he committed to Georgia, according to On3's Hayes Fawcett.

“It’s a great school, great program,” Spell told Dawgs HQ, per Steve Wiltfong of Rivals. “They’re great at football. As soon as I got the offer, they showed me love right off the rip. That’s something I always look for when I go places.”
This past weekend wasn't the only time the f-star running back took in Georgia. He was in attendance for Georgia's final home game of this past season, a 35-3 win over Charlotte.
Georgia football sells itself nowadays, but Spell also liked the vibes he's gotten from Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs' coaching staff.
"It's just the love and relationship between all the coaches. I got down there the first time and got to meet Kirby Smart. It was nothing but great. It's been great every other day since then, and we've talked every other day for real," Spell told Dawgs247 in January.
Spell also mentioned a home visit he received from Georgia running backs coach Josh Crawford as a big moment for him. Overall, the fit was clearly there.
"It was just, as soon as I got there, the love and relationship I had with the coaches, it was just a spark. It's a place that's a home feel. That's what it felt like when I got there," he said.
Spell totaled over 1,500 all-purpose yards and 23 touchdowns for his high school this past season.
