It was back in December when NFL insider Jay Glazer of Fox Sports revealed that Las Vegas Raiders star pass-rusher Maxx Crosby was "not happy" about being shut down before the end of the 2025 season because of a lingering knee injury.
During a Wednesday appearance on "Yahoo Sports Daily," Glazer offered quite a noteworthy update on Crosby's mindset.
As shared by Fox Sports, Glazer responded "I do" when asked during the segment if he thought Crosby had played his last meaningful snap as a member of the Raiders.
"It's Maxx's decision," Glazer said. "[The Raiders] didn't want to do it. But he was like, 'I'm not going through another rebuild.'"
Crosby signed a three-year, $106.5M contract extension last offseason, so the Raiders theoretically don't have to trade him for pennies on the dollar this winter. According to Glazer, the Raiders will want "probably more" than what the Dallas Cowboys received in return from the Green Bay Packers for Micah Parsons this past August.
The Packers sent the Cowboys two first-round draft picks and defensive tackle Kenny Clark for Parsons. Green Bay then signed Parsons to a four-year, $188M contract that included $136M guaranteed.
The New England Patriots were among the teams linked with Crosby weeks before New England advanced to a Super Bowl LX showdown with the Seattle Seahawks. During a Wednesday appearance on Boston's 98.5 The Sports Hub, NFL insider Dianna Russini of The Athletic spoke about Crosby's uncertain future.
"As for this upcoming offseason, outside of just free agency, the thing that I’m going to be watching are these players that perhaps want trades," Russini explained, per Conor Ryan of Boston.com. "That’s what I want to see. Maxx Crosby doesn’t seem too happy in Las Vegas. ...I can tell you, I know he wants to play for (Patriots head coach) Mike Vrabel. He’s told me before."
Even if the Patriots fall to the Seahawks this coming Sunday, it sounds like New England will be a popular destination among players looking for new NFL homes later this year.
"If you’re a Patriots fan — here’s what you have to be excited about," Russini added. "You often lose players in free agency because people don’t want to live in Boston, they don’t want to live up north. … But now, you guys are back on the map as a place that the players want to be because they’re watching it, they’re seeing it. Social media, as much as we mock it, I think helps the cause here, and they’re seeing the way these guys love each other, and it’s a family."
Whether or not the Patriots are willing to spend what it would take to add Crosby to their family before training-camp practices get underway shall be seen.
