Year in and year out, the Pro Football Hall of Fame is a talking point for all the wrong reasons.
Instead of uplifting the legends who — rightfully — got the nod, the conversation usually revolves around those who didn't make the cut.
That's especially the case this time, as Bill Belichick, probably the greatest head coach of all time, didn't get a golden jacket in his first try.
Considering that, NFL legend Deion Sanders told Kenny Clark on "This is Football" the way to solve this once and for all.
“Ask the Hall of Famers,” Sanders told Clark. “I wouldn’t want the Grinch who stole Christmas voting on a beauty pageant.”
Clark rebutted by stating that the voters' committee usually does a good job, but the legendary cornerback agreed to disagree.
“No, they don’t. They’re messing it up consistently,” Sanders responded. “I just don’t understand the process sometimes.”
Sanders named the likes of Darren Woodson, Asante Samuel and Fred Taylor as players who should've been inducted by now.
The committee has gotten it right for the most part, so perhaps it's not the voters who need to change as much as it's the system.
Some of those who didn't vote for Belichick argued they didn't vote against him, but rather in favor of someone else. Perhaps having it be one or the other isn't the best way.
Whatever the case, the damage is already done. Belichick, like many other snubbed candidates, will ultimately get in, but this will forever feel like a massive blunder.
