Report sheds light on A.J. Brown's feelings toward Eagles

A.J. Brown is coming off what many viewed as a tumultuous season with the Philadelphia Eagles, and there are certain to be trade rumors surrounding the star wide receiver in the coming months. At this point, it sounds like a change of scenery might appeal to both sides.

Dianna Russini of The Athletic wrote on Saturday that Brown's relationship with the Eagles "remains somewhat tenuous" entering the offseason. The reporter added that there have not yet been "substantial conversations" about Brown's future in Philadelphia, but that is expected to change during the NFL Scouting Combine in two weeks.

Recent reports have suggested both Brown and the Eagles would prefer to part ways this offseason. Brown was openly frustrated at times throughout 2025, which has fueled speculation that he may request a trade in the near future.

A.J. Brown has seemed unhappy in Philadelphia

Brown finished with 78 catches for 1,003 yards and seven touchdowns in 2025. That is solid production for a wide receiver, but it is not quite up to the lofty standards that the three-time Pro Bowl wideout has set throughout his career.

The Eagles have been a predominantly run-first team, especially since they signed Saquon Barkley ahead of the 2024 season. Barkley rushed for 1,140 yards on 280 carries and averaged 4.1 yards per carry this season, which was a significant step back from the 345 carries, 2,005 yards and 5.8 yards-per-carry average he had last year. That still did not result in increased production for Brown.

Brown had a number of cryptic social media posts this season that hinted at frustration with the Eagles. There has seemingly been tension between him, head coach Nick Sirianni and quarterback Jalen Hurts for quite some time.

What would the price tag be?

If the Eagles were to make Brown available, the big question would be what they want in return. Brown is 28 and has had 1,000 or more receiving yards in six of his seven NFL seasons, including four in a row with the Eagles. There should be plenty of interest in him on the trade market.

There has been reason to believe Philadelphia could get a high draft pick for Brown in a potential trade. Even if Brown's production has declined over the past two seasons, he is still viewed as one of the best possession wide receivers in football. His skill set should appeal to teams that need a reliable threat in their passing game.
