Dusty May, Michigan Wolverines extend winning streak to the recruiting trail

Head coach Dusty May has the Michigan Wolverines rolling on the basketball court.

The Wolverines are 22-1 and ranked No. 2 in the country. They've won eight in a row, and that includes wins over No. 5 Nebraska, No. 7 Michigan State, Penn State and Ohio State.

They've got some major momentum, and that momentum has carried onto the recruiting trail.

On Tuesday, it came out that hoops recruit Lincoln Cosby, a four-star small forward, committed to Michigan.

Not only did he commit, but he reclassified from the 2027 class to the 2026 class, so he'll be heading to Ann Arbor and the college basketball ranks sooner than expected.

From Florida's Montverde Academy, Cosby will be the fifth recruit to come to Michigan via the 2026 recruiting class — a class that's ranked No. 4 nationally, according to the 247Sports Composite.

"When I went on my visit for a football game, the atmosphere was incredible," Cosby told Jeff Borzello and Paul Biancardi of ESPN, explaining why he chose Michigan. "The fan base and alumni are die-hards, and the whole visit exceeded my expectations."

Alabama, Georgia and Ole Miss were also in the running for his commitment, but he's been watching Michigan play this season and he likes what he can do in May's scheme.

"When I watched Michigan and spoke to coach Dusty May, I saw how they utilized their big, skilled forwards, like Danny Wolf or Yaxel Lendeborg," Cosby said. "I felt like I saw myself playing and producing in that type of system."

Cosby checks in at 6-foot-9, and the 247Sports Composite ranks him as the No. 14 small forward in the country and the No. 38 hoops recruit overall.

He recently had to undergo surgery on a torn ACL, so he'll come to Ann Arbor in rehab mode.

With that said, his future is very bright.

"My plan is to go, develop, and hopefully have a chance to play at the next level," Cosby said.
