The Texas Rangers have just added a very famous person to their ownership group.

NBA All-Star Cade Cunningham has purchased a minority ownership stake in the Rangers, according to a report.

Cunningham, 24, is from Arlington, Texas, which is where the Rangers play. The 2021 No. 1 overall pick is now a part-owner of his hometown MLB team.

Cunningham has really blossomed over the last few years. He is averaging 25.3 points, 9.6 assists and 1.5 steals per game this season. The assists and steals numbers mark the highest average per game of his career. More importantly, Detroit is dominating this season and entered play on Thursday with a 40-13 record.

As for the Rangers, they went 81-81 last season, but won the World Series in 2023. Ray Davis is the team’s majority owner after purchasing the team in 2011.

Cunningham has shown his ties to the Rangers before. Last year, he threw out the ceremonial first pitch at a Rangers game in July.

Now he is a team owner.
