Miami Hurricanes pass-rusher Rueben Bain Jr. may very well be the best EDGE prospect in the 2026 NFL Draft.
At the very least, it's between him and Ohio State Buckeyes EDGE Arvell Reese.
Whichever team selects Bain is going to be getting one heck of a player. He checks in at 6-foot-3, 275 pounds and has an elite blend of speed and power.
In three seasons with Miami, he notched 121 tackles (67 solo), 20.5 sacks, 33.5 tackles for loss, four forced fumbles, two passes defended and an interception.
That's elite production, and Blake Brockermeyer of CBS Sports recently gave Bain an elite comparison.
In a new 2026 NFL Mock Draft, Brockermeyer predicted that Bain will go No. 4 overall to the Tennessee Titans. In his blurb on Bain, he made a comparison between the Miami star's production in college and what Will Anderson Jr. did with the Alabama Crimson Tide a few seasons ago.
"Bain was as dominant a defensive lineman as we've seen since Will Anderson Jr. at Alabama," Brockermeyer wrote.
Anderson was the third overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft (Houston Texans), and he was the NFL's defensive rookie of the year that season. He's also already a two-time All-Pro.
At Alabama, Anderson put up 205 tackles (115 solo), 62 tackles for loss, 34.5 sacks, one forced fumble, one interception (returned for a touchdown) and four passes defended in three seasons. He was a two-time All-American, a two-time Bronko Nagurski Award winner and a Chuck Bednarik Award winner.
To be compared to Anderson, whether as a college player or an NFL prospect, is a huge indication of the type of talent Bain possesses.
"He brings elite power in both phases and wins as an excellent technician with his hands, beating opponents with physicality or finesse," Brockermeyer wrote. "Bain has a high motor, plays the game the right way and shows strong attention to detail. His measurements might not wow everyone, but his film is elite, and he offers versatility to kick inside in pass-rushing situations if needed."
If Bain is even half the rookie that Anderson was in the NFL, wherever he ends up, he'll be a homerun selection.
