Broncos, Ravens and other teams that should target Stefon Diggs after release from Patriots

The New England Patriots are letting wide receiver Stefon Diggs go after one season.

On Wednesday, the Patriots told Diggs they plan to cut him when the new league year begins on March 11 at 4 p.m. ET. New England will avoid paying the WR a $6M roster bonus that was fully guaranteed on March 13, via NFL Media's Tom Pelissero

Four-time Pro Bowler Diggs should find a new home soon. With that in mind, here are five teams that should be interested in signing the veteran wideout:

Denver Broncos

Before the Patriots lost to the Seattle Seahawks 29-13 in Super Bowl LX, Diggs said his close relationship with Broncos offensive coordinator Davis Webb almost lured him to Denver instead of New England in free agency. The WR played with the former backup QB for the Buffalo Bills from 2020-21.

Webb, who will assume play-calling duties for head coach Sean Payton next season, would certainly welcome a WR of Diggs' caliber. Outside of WR Courtland Sutton, the Broncos lack difference-makers at the position. Sutton led the team in receiving yards (1,017, No. 13 in NFL) in 2025, while WR Troy Franklin had the second most (709, No. 46 in NFL). Too few quality pass-catchers for Denver proved costly in a 10-7 loss to the Patriots in this past season's AFC Championship Game.

Cap space remains an issue for the Broncos. Spotrac estimates they have $20.94M in cap room, somewhat tight. Denver, though, can afford to splurge on a playmaker like Diggs. QB Bo Nix clearly needs more weapons to lead the team to its first Super Bowl win since the 2015 season.

Baltimore Ravens

Surrounding QB Lamar Jackson with a stronger supporting cast would help the Ravens rebound after a disappointing season, where they went 8-9 and missed the playoffs.

Zay Flowers (1,211 receiving yards in 2025, No. 7 in the NFL) is the only WR who stretched the field for the Ravens last season. WR DeAndre Hopkins (330 receiving yards) is set to become a free agent, and it would be surprising if the team re-signs him.

Considering that, the Ravens should strongly consider adding Diggs, who would generate explosive plays in the passing game.

Pittsburgh Steelers

Pairing Diggs with WR DK Metcalf is risky for the Steelers. Both are considered mercurial, which could create tension within the locker room.

With QB questions, however, grabbing Diggs could be worth the risk for Pittsburgh. QB Aaron Rodgers hasn't said whether he'll return next season. If he retires, the Steelers may roll with Mason Rudolph or Will Howard.

After the 2026 NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis, NBC Sports' Matthew Berry reported 2025 sixth-round pick Howard is emerging as the favorite to replace the future Hall of Famer. He would need more reliable targets to succeed in his first season as a full-time starter.

Diggs would give the Steelers a legit No. 1 WR that could kick-start their passing offense, which ranked 22nd in the league in passing yards last season (198.2 yards per game). The WR has eclipsed 1,000 receiving yards seven times in his 11-year career. Last season, he had 1,013 receiving yards in 17 regular-season games.

Tennessee Titans

Yes, it's become a popular internet meme that WRs go to Tennessee when they're washed up. Hopkins started 19 games for the Titans before they traded him to the Kansas City Chiefs during the 2024 season. WR Calvin Ridley, meanwhile, could be on the way out after logging 303 receiving yards in 2025 before breaking his right fibula in Week 11.

Still, the Titans must put QB Cam Ward in a better position as the 2025 No. 1 pick enters his second season. That starts with improving the receiving corps. TE Chig Okonkwo — who led Tennessee in receiving yards in 2025 (560) — is a free agent.

The Titans could also pursue WR Alec Pierce, who tied for 19th in the league in receiving yards (1,003) in 15 regular-season games with the Indianapolis Colts last season. But it's smart for Tennessee to eye multiple options, and Diggs would be a solid one, even though he turns 33 on Nov. 29.

New York Giants

Like the Titans, the Giants must give their QB more firepower as he enters his second season. New York QB Jaxson Dart was named a 2025 Offensive Rookie of the Year finalist after throwing for 2,272 yards and 15 TD passes in 12 starts. He would've produced better numbers had 2024 Pro Bowl WR Malik Nabers not suffered a season-ending ACL tear in his right knee in Week 4.

WR Wan'Dale Robinson stepped up last season, finishing with a team-leading 1,014 receiving yards. However, New York may lose him in free agency. He's reportedly interested in reuniting with former Giants head coach Brian Daboll (now Titans OC) this offseason.

Signing Diggs would help the Giants replace Robinson and give them a 1B to Nabers' 1A.
