Hornets' win streak reaches a historic level of dominance

Once near the bottom of the conference at 11-20, the Charlotte Hornets have turned themselves into one of the top stories of the season.

And now, after the latest win, a 118-89 road victory over the Boston Celtics, this Hornets team's run of success has become historic.

With Wednesday night's win, Charlotte has won six games in a row and owns a 32-31 overall record, going 17-4 in their last 21 games.

Hornets' most recent win-streak is historic

The Hornets haven't just been winning, they've been winning big, too. Charlotte has won each of their six games in a row by at least 15 points, matching the second-longest such streak in league history and the longest since the 2017-18 Golden State Warriors.

Everyone has been at the top of their game as of late

Led by rookie sensation Kon Knueppel, who recently set a new record for the most threes by a rookie, Brandon Miller and LaMelo Ball, the Hornets have climbed into the postseason picture, currently sitting as a play-in tournament team.

Averaging 19.2 points per game on the season, Knueppel scored 20 against the Celtics and has reached or exceeded 20 points in five of his last seven games. Miller put up 18 in Boston and exploded for 33 on Feb. 26 at Indiana. To his credit, Ball has been doing a little of everything. He posted 18 points with seven rebounds and four assists on Wednesday after a line of 15 points, five boards and nine assists when Charlotte blew out the Dallas Mavericks 117-90 the night before.

Hornets are now in the thick of the playoff race

In ninth in the Eastern Conference standings, Charlotte is only 2.5 games out of jumping all the way to sixth, which would avoid the gamble of having to play into the real playoff field altogether.

No matter how their season ends, the Hornets have already vastly overachieved based on expectations and are showing why the future of the franchise is very bright.
