North Carolina may get huge addition for clash with No. 1 Duke

The North Carolina Tar Heels will be looking to make one final regular-season statement before heading into the ACC Tournament.

Their last opponent for the 2025-26 regular season is No. 1-ranked Duke, and the Tar Heels are hoping that they can walk away from Cameron Indoor Stadium with a sweep of their biggest rival.

Earlier this season, they beat Duke, which was ranked No. 4 in the country at that time, 71-68.

That was a high-water mark for UNC this season, because unfortunately, they lost star freshman forward Caleb Wilson in the very next game due to a fractured left hand.

The Tar Heels have gone 5-1 without Wilson, but he's undoubtedly the straw that stirs the drink for them.

Getting him back in time for March Madness is vital, but according to Jon Rothstein, the Tar Heels may be able to get him back before their season-ending clash with Duke on Saturday.

Hubert Davis tells me that "there's a chance" Caleb Wilson (hand) could play on Saturday in North Carolina's game at Duke, depending on how the next two days of practice go," Rothstein reported on Thursday.

Caleb Wilson may soon return for North Carolina Tar Heels

Davis told Rothstein that "nothing is definitive" regarding Wilson, but this is certainly a positive update. Even if Wilson doesn't make it back in time for the Duke game, this update is a good indication that he could be back in time for the ACC Tournament, at least. That's not to mention the actual NCAA Tournament, where it actually will matter for North Carolina to have him.

Wilson is a 6-foot-10, 215-pound freshman from Atlanta, Georgia. He's averaged 19.8 points, 9.4 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game for North Carolina.

In UNC's early February win over Duke, he put up 23 points, four rebounds, two assists, two steals and a block.
