The Baltimore Ravens' search for pass-rushing help will continue. Just days after reportedly agreeing to a trade for Las Vegas Raiders superstar edge-rusher Maxx Crosby, the Ravens backed out of the agreement on Tuesday, just hours before the official start of the new league year that would have made the deal official.
The reason: Crosby reportedly did not pass his physical on Tuesday.
There was always going to be concern with Crosby's health given that he is 29 years old and played through a meniscus injury for most of the 2025 season.
The Raiders used that injury as a reason to sit him down for the final two games of the regular season.
While that was almost certainly a concern, it is still a stunning development to see what would have been the biggest trade of the NFL offseason fall apart just days later.
The Athletic's Diana Russini reported on Tuesday that Crosby did not pass his physical.

The Ravens get their first round picks back.
With the trade now off, the Ravens will keep the two first-round draft picks they had previously agreed to trade to the Raiders. That includes the No. 14 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft and their first-round pick in the 2027 NFL Draft.
Trading two first-round picks for one player also came with its own share of risks, but it was one the Ravens were willing to take as long as Crosby could get a clean bill of health. That obviously did not happen.
Now the Ravens still have to figure out what they are going to do about a pass-rush that was 30th in the NFL in sacks during the 2025 season. That lack of a pass-rush was one of the biggest reasons for their 8-9 record that resulted in them missing the playoffs. It is especially problematic two days into the legal tampering period after so many players have already agreed to terms. The biggest name who is still available is former Cincinnati Bengals edge-rusher Trey Hendrickson.
