Will Troy Aikman get Tom Brady treatment from NFL amid relationship with Dolphins?

Pockets of football fans were surprised to learn that Hall of Fame quarterback and current "Monday Night Football" analyst Troy Aikman was advising the Miami Dolphins regarding that franchise's search for a new general manager.

That apparently won't be the end of Aikman's working relationship with the Dolphins, which has seemingly raised some eyebrows around the NFL.

Will Troy Aikman hear from NFL about ESPN, Dolphins duties?

On Thursday, Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk shared that a league spokesperson said the NFL will address Aikman calling games for ESPN/ABC while having a role with the Dolphins "at the appropriate time."

As The Athletic's Jayna Bardahl noted, Aikman revealed during a recent podcast appearance that he plans to continue working for the Dolphins in "some capacity."

"I thoroughly enjoyed it and felt like I was of some help," Aikman added at that time. "Where that might go, I’m not sure, but I’m going to continue to work with them."

As Florio referenced, Tom Brady is permitted to serve as both a minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders and as Fox's lead in-game analyst. However, Brady is not allowed to attend practices or enter the facilities of other teams while preparing to call contests.

Many members of the NFL community have said over the years that Brady working for Fox while being a minority owner of one franchise is a conflict of interest. For what it's worth, a majority of players asked earlier this offseason indicated they have no problem with Brady's roles.

Would Troy Aikman quit broadcasting to work for Dolphins?

The Dolphins' search for a new general manager ended when they hired former Green Bay Packers vice president of player personnel Jon-Eric Sullivan. While it has been said that Brady is "the de facto boss when it comes to football matters" for the Raiders, Aikman seemingly has no desire to hold such a job.

"I’m very blessed," Aikman added during the podcast. "I continue to enjoy what I’m doing: broadcasting. Love who I work with. I’ve been working with [Joe Buck] — shoot, we’re going on our 25th year together next year. That just doesn’t happen in this business. …It’s been awesome. I don’t know how much longer that will go — hopefully, a long time — but yeah, life’s good right now."
