Miami's Rueben Bain Jr. compares himself to Mike Tyson regarding major concern

A report recently revealed that some people around the NFL think the Tennessee Titans could surprise certain analysts by selecting Miami Hurricanes pass-rusher Rueben Bain Jr. with the fourth overall pick of the 2026 NFL Draft.

ESPN's Mel Kiper Jr. is among those who have suggested that Bain will fall further down the draft order due to concerns related to how he and his 30⅞-inch arms will deal with pro offensive tackles. During a recent conversation with NFL Network's Cameron Wolfe (h/t Kevin Patra), Bain offered quite a response to those who think he can't be a dominant force at the highest level.

Will Rueben Bain Jr. become the NFL's next Mike Tyson?

"Like Mike Tyson … he wasn't the tallest guy," Bain said. "He wasn't the longest-limbed guy. But when you felt him, you felt him. You kept your distance."

Bain's draft stock could become a hot topic leading up to a draft that seemingly won't be responsible for more than two quarterbacks selected in the first round, at most. On Monday, Todd McShay of The Ringer echoed the previously mentioned report and predicted that the Titans will take Bain at pick No. 4. For a mock draft published on Tuesday, ESPN's Field Yates linked Bain with the New Orleans Saints at choice No. 8.

Others have had Bain falling to the Kansas City Chiefs at selection No. 9.

What Rueben Bain Jr. wanted to show during pro-day workout

Wolfe asked Bain what the prospect hoped to show onlookers during his pro-day workout on Monday.

"My versatility," Bain responded. "Most people didn't know I could just drop in coverage and move around like that. Track balls, do anything I'm asked. I feel like I'm a versatile player, and that's what I showed today. Just knowing that I'm at a new weight, a new body type, a new style, and I'm just the same player. No matter what I'm doing, I can do anything in the game of football."

Bain seems to be daring teams in need of help at his position to pass on him next month. If nothing else, he isn't lacking confidence in his abilities despite what some have said and written about him since he was measured at the scouting combine.
